Hobbies:
My life is my hobby. Keeping my poker career, my company, and my family in order are all wonderful
things to do. I love all 3 of them. On the side I love to hang out with my small group of buddies, SPORTS all year round,
and Im an avid pc gamer. Or at least I am when i find the time. Halflife, C&C and FEAR franchises have taken a lot of
my free time.
Odd Accomplishments :
Well, in May 1998 I was the world champion at Command &
Conquer Red Alert.
Summers of 1998,1999 I traveled 3 months with a drama team accross the eastern US and midwest
regions doing over 100 shows.
Sept. 2003 - won $50 on a freeroll. I promised my wife that I would never gamble
any of our own money , and i never have.
Sept. 2005 - Saved up the money i had made from original $50 and created
SouthpawToons Inc.
Sept. 2005 - let go from my job the day we brought our newborn home from the hospital. Decide
to go full time poker and continue to invest in the business.
Nov 2006 - A week after my birthday, the $50 from
a freeroll has reached $100,000. I did so with only 2 losing months during the process.
Feb. 2008 - after
taking more than a year off of full time poker (to expand my company), I am diagnosed with cancer and give the reigns of my
business over to my wife and go back to full time poker online. During my first chemo, I win my first 'online
major' . others would follow before my 2nd and 3rd treatments.
December 2008 - Even with the economy
hurting many of my competitors in my field, my company has shot up 90% sales from the previous year. I was able to work on
expanding my business throughout all of 2008 even with the surgeries, the biopsys, hundreds of hours of chemo and 35 days
of agressive radiation. If I die from this disease i die completely happy and satisfied that I leave my family with a way
to live comfortably, and have no regrets about my 20s. I might be the happiest cancer patient to ever live.
A brief Summary of my poker career.
In
Sept. of 2003 I won $50 in an Absolute Poker freeroll, followed by another $54 in a freeroll about a week later. Being that
I never believed in gambling I promised my wife that I would not gamble with our money and only play with money I would make
for free. A year later with good bankroll management I had almost $7000. A year after that, $27000. At the start of 2008 I
had turned that $104 into over $200k profit with online rebuys being the main focus from 2005-2007. In 2008 even through all
the pain I am still on pace for a 100k year, as my live cash games have been almost flawless for me all year. Ive been averaging
over $640 an hour after 70 hours of $10 $20nl live play, with 1 losing day out of 15. Once I am in remission I plan being
on tour as much as possible. Right now I juggle being a father, a husband, a business owner, being a cancer patient, and a
poker player, and I wouldnt trade it for the world.
